TD Snap – AAC software

TD Snap is the first AAC software that I learned to use. I really like the QuickFires functionality. I used it extensively. I also updated the buttons to match my needs. We created a custom page to use at night. Sheila had to do the customization because we didn’t find a way to do it with eye gaze.

Description

I moved away from TD Snap when we started using the AI voice from ElevenLabs. We found it easier to use and implement in Communicator.

Tobii Dynavox is highly committed to this application. They are making regular updates to it. TD Snap is available for Windows and Apple iPad devices.

TD Snap vs Communicator 5 for speaking (AAC)
I have been asked to give my thoughts about TD Snap and Communicator 5 a few times. Well, here goes. I am going to compare these AAC apps for speaking. Voice banking and voice cloning are different, but they both preserve our voice.

Voice banking requires you to record phrases which are used to create an artificial voice. I used Acapela which is free through Team Gleason. This voice is a little mechanical sounding and can be downloaded on your computer.

Voice cloning uses new or existing recordings like videos or voice mails to create a natural sounding voice with AI. This is done with ElevenLabs and Bridging Voice. This voice requires an internet connection to use.

Both are free through the organizations I mentioned above. I recommend doing both.

• Help needed to transfer

• Work transitions
• Supplemental nutrition through feeding tube

LATE STAGE | August 2023 – Current

Power chair

Key points
• 50% to full time ventilation
• From NIV to tracheostomy
• Lift transfers
• Loss of limb function
• Most nutrition through feeding tube
