Function keypads, Stream Deck

Function keypads are a way to reduce the key presses required to perform commands like copy and paste. These keypads are often used by streamers, gamers, and video editors. I tried two different solutions and landed on the Legato Stream Deck.

From my review: “I really enjoy a Stream Deck because some of it is just fun. Part of the fun of this is finding icons that you can use that include gifs on the screen. I’m completely planning to continue to extend what I’m doing with my Stream Deck.”

When I completely lost the ability to use my hands, I put the Stream Deck under my desk and used my toes to press the keys.

From first symptoms to the walker

• No ventilation
• Able to walk without help
• Limited upper limb function

MIDDLE STAGE | November 2022 – August 2023

From walker to power chair

Key points
• Limited ventilation with an NIV
• Help needed to transfer
• Limited upper and lower limb function
• Work transitions
• Supplemental nutrition through feeding tube

LATE STAGE | August 2023 – Current

Power chair

Key points
• 50% to full time ventilation
• From NIV to tracheostomy
• Lift transfers
• Loss of limb function
• Most nutrition through feeding tube
