Making tools, resources, and articles easier to navigate

Torn papers and a pen scattered on an open notebook in a cozy indoor setting.

Today, November 24, 2025, I released some major changes to the website. The changes impact Articles & Resources and Tools pages and content organizations. The goals for the changes include the following:

  • Overall performance improvement
  • Separating articles from resources to make finding resources easier
  • More efficient management of over 100 tools with more than 55% already completed
  • Make referencing content more precise

What has changed?

Two key changes were made. I split the contents into multiple pages. This improved page loading time by reducing the size of the pages. You can see the added pages in the updated menu.

The other significant change was adding tabs. I liked the accordion structure, but the items cannot be linked to which made it difficult to guide readers to specific information. Next, I describe changes to both original pages.

Changes to Articles & Pages

It was becoming unwieldy to manage articles and resources together. I split articles off to their own page. The articles are organized by two levels of tabs. The top level includes Living with ALS, caregiving, and research. The next level of tabs separates the articles into subtopics. You can now choose a tab and share the link.

The original page has been updated with two sections, latest reads and ALS resources. As before we highlight four articles. In the bottom section, I have organized our resources into groups and subtopics with tabs. We have blogs, YouTube channels, calculators, and trial locators from a combination of sources including pALS, doctors, and vendors. I am excited to see more growth in this section. Let me know if you have a resource to add.

Changes to Tools

I did a major overhaul of the Tools page. The page was starting to slow down, and I had less than half the tools documented. The first step was splitting the top-level groups into their own pages, health, house, lifestyle, mobility, and work. Each page has a set of tabs to organize the subtopics. The tools are displayed in an accordion. You can now link to a group of tools easily directing people to the desired group of tools such as backup power options on the health tools page. Hopefully this change will make it easier to find the tools you are looking for.

Wrap up

I hope these changes make the website more useful. I think tools and resources are very important to share with you. Thank you for your patience as I continue to improve the website. Let me know what you think.
